controlled chaos

1. Hubski was able to bring me a set of sweats to school when I got asked to switch to PE classes instead of my other assignment. 

2. The weather was actually kind of pleasant out of the soccer field all day.

3.  Subbing in PE allowed me to see certain students in a different light.  The boy who struggles to read is awesome on the soccer field.  It was great to be able to tell him, "Great job!"

1. Vegged out in bed all day - sick.

2. Answered a long over due email.

3. Cleared out a bunch of old stuff on the DVR list thanks to item #1.

The good news I am feeling better this afternoon than I was this morning. 

Well, I planned to get lots done today since I was not working.  After I got the breakfast stuff cleaned up and started a load of laundry, a teacher called me.  She thought her foot was broken and her doctor said he could see her if she could get there in the next hour.  I quickly threw on something that looked more teacher-like than sweat pants and a hoodie.  So my three for today are:

1. Dropped everything to help a friend

2. Taught advanced math classes with minimal lesson plans

3. Justified ordering pizza for dinner since my paycheck will be a little fatter having worked an extra day

1. finished a pair of pants

2. finished a baby blanket  (just needed a binding...easy peasy)

3. traced a baby outfit

any day with that much sewing is a good day

1.  chicken piccata.....yummy, especially since i did not have to cook it

2. i got the stains out of C's favorite "Latin Rocks" t-shirt.

3. i actually mailed out a birthday present early.  i am usually quite late with gifts, so this was a momentous event.  

1.  Had the easiest subbing assignment today.

2.  Was able to use my very limited Spanish to help a parent at tonight's open house for the middle school.

3.  Got a CD full of photos from the play I was in this summer.  So fun to see what we looked like on stage.

Today, an 11 year old told me I was "mean and lazy" because I told her to use the dictionary to find the spelling of a word. FYI, learning to use the dictionary was a stated objective of the lesson. 11 years old....calls me "mean and lazy." today was the first day I worked with her. at 11, would you have called an adult "mean and lazy"? i don't think so. we have some sassy little 6th graders this year. some one needs to set them straight or they will be hellions by the time they are 8th graders.

oh, and little miss 11 yr old.... i told her she could sit there and not do her work.  however, if the work wasn't done, she would sit in my room during lunch and finish her work....and we would do that every day until her work *was* done.  that dictionary became her new best friend.  :)  i may not be lazy, but, yeah, i am a little bit mean.

1.  Got lots of compliments on my outfit today.

2.  Got to see an old friend for a few minutes today.

3.  I did not die of boredom in my meeting tonight.  It was close, but the teacher next to me made enough sarcastic comments that I did not lose consciousness. 

1.  It is Friday....need I say more?

2.  I finished reading an amazing book.

3.  I read a piece of my son's writing that just blew me away. 

1.  Our school has some fabulous teachers who care deeply about their students.  They are willing to go the extra mile.

2.  We ordered pizza for dinner, so I didn't have to cook. 

3.  I started working on a new top and the fabric is scrumptiously soft.

1.  it's friday, need i say more?

2. the issue of ottobre woman arrived my mailbox

3. i treated myself to a big, fat, gooey, messy meatball sub.  did not feel at all guilty about the nutrional value, calories, fat, carbs...nothing.  it was all good.

Three things for Wednesday...

1. we did not get hit by a tornado today, despite a few being spotted in the area

2. i cleaned off the kitchen island *and* my desk.  no small feat.

3. i had the $$$ to buy the tux my 9th grader needs for chorus.  i feel sorry for the families that can't afford this.  what ever happened to good old choir robes?  yes, they were ugly, but what 14 yr old needs a tux?

Three good things for Friday...

1. finished a baby dress.  sewing baby clothes always makes me happy.

2. got hubski's car inspected 9 days before the sticker expired....a new personal best.  :)

3.  finished a book that was just ok, which means i was able to start a book that is really good.

Definitely had 3 good things today...

1.  Project Runway episode was hilarious. 

2. Finished a pair of pants that totally rock.

3. Dinner was eggs & hash browns.....love eating breakfast for dinner.

brazen has been posting 3 good things that happen each day.  i agree; focusing on the positive can keep things in perspective.  all those little good things add up.  i won't post every day, but i'll try it from time to time. 

ok, so for today....

1. i had leftovers from when we went out to dinner last night so i had a fast and yummy dinner tonight.

2. the boys cooked their own dinner tonight, hence my ability to get away with having my restaurant leftovers.

3. heard from an old friend today. 

The play is done

I cannot believe there is only one more week of summer vacation!  I'm not ready to go back.  This week has been a blur with the play.  Next week will be a blur with back to school activities.  eek!

oh no...i'm sick.  i can't be sick.  i won't be sick.  the play opens on thursday.  sore throat and achy all over. will try to spend as much time in bed as possible. the show must go on!

The costumes for the play are coming together so nicely.  It will be adorable....if everyone learns their lines.  :)  I have so few that it is not hard for me to remember mine.

I hope the Project Runway judges do a better job tonight.  I wanted throw a shoe at them last week.  And now my neighbor has me watching Shear Genius too.  It comes on right after PR.  I'm already comfy on her sofa.....so why not?
